Marketing and Design

Would anybody you know get value from this?

I’m not going to break down social media or traditional marketing but tackle marketing and how it should impact business practices (instead of the other way around).

Marketing can no longer be approached as it has for the past 60 years.  To succeed in todays marketplace you can no longer make a product for a mass market and attempt to buy as many viewers through television, magazine, and other mass media advertisements.  Let me clarify that you can make a product or offer a service that could potentially be for everyone but it needs to begin with marketing to a specific audience / niche.

Let me pose a question: Would you rather have 1,000 random individuals exposed to your fantastic call to action or 100 individuals who are already interested in the product or service your offering.

This is the basic problem that many new companies have when deciding where to invest their dollars.  Today there are so many avenues to find your target audience whether through social media, related blogs, related products that finding the individuals that want to purchase is easier than ever.  I believe that marketing whether on a small business or organizational scale needs to start with a small dedicated fan base and build off of that to reach the appropriate goals.

Cordie INC thinks marketing first and design second.
