You interact with your customers a lot.
If you’re doing it right – EVERY DAY
When you interact are you doing it in a way that will benefit you in the long run?
You need to understand the basics of copywriting
to successfully market yourself to your customers even if you aren’t
directly writing or creating ads yourself.
Here are 5 tips on improving your everyday copywriting.
#1 You must understand your Value Proposition and communicate that in everything you do.
Answering the basic question – Why should I buy from you vs your competition?
I already answered this in a previous post you can find – HERE
#2 You must think like the customer.
What you (as the company cares about) is not what the customer does.
Being able to do this will allow you to excel in many areas.
Not only in any advertising or customer communication but also with creating content.
If you can anticipate the questions your customer will have and address those before they even “meet” or “do business” with you. You’ve put yourself in a place much better than your competitors.
Quick tip:
Looking for content to put on your website? Write out a list of the top 10 questions you get from customers.
Then write answers to those. Simple but not many people are doing this.
#3 Benefits not Features
Although most of us want to talk about the features of our product or service
the customer / client cares about the benefits.
We’re answering the question
What do I get out of using your service?
EXAMPLE – I’m going to use myself
Feature – We build our websites on WordPress
Benefit – Simple CMS allows for simple updates and security
Make sense?
#4 Reverse Risk
What kind of guarantee can you give?
30 day money back guarantee
You have to be bold – you have to be audacious.
Can you stand out?
Hear are 4 things to think about…
Show the customer that you believe in the quality of your product.
Be clear with your terms and conditions.
Setting a specific time period..
What will you do if the customer is dissatisfied?
The other thing to do is to make sure you have sufficient testimonials and credibility.
If you have great honest reviews from real people.
That goes just as far as a guarantee.
#5 Clear Call to Action
I often see great ads, well written, designed beautifully…
But they have no call to action.
What am I supposed to do?
Although you put a phone number and website it still doesn’t give me a reason to go to those places.
Copywriting is useless if you don’t have some type of call to action.
